I tried commenting out all buttons besides A and B in both the nf and nf files, but this didn't seem to help either-the files were overwritten by the app on close anyway. I reviewed the conf files to see if there was anything undocumented. If I understood the changelog correctly, it seems the rewind functionality was mapped to a gamepad button in 1.49, so I built 1.48 in the hope that it would be similarly awesome to 1.49, but without the rewind issue-unfortunately 1.48 would only segfault every time I tried to load a ROM. I've tried remapping the controller buttons in the nestopia UI, but to no avail.

I have experienced the same behavior regardless of whether I install nestopia from a repository or build it from source. (NOTE: I guess it could be prevented by not hitting the Y button, but I'm unironically using an NES emulator. This happens 100% of the time with every game I've tested, and cannot seem to be prevented, or interrupted. I'm on Fedora 29, though I don't suspect that'll be relevant.Įvery time my thumb accidentally hits the "Y" button on the controller, it causes nestopia to rewind the previous minute or so of whatever game I'm playing. I was shocked to learn that there are some functions of NEStopia that can only be operated with a game controller (such as rewind and quick freeze). It seems to have completely disappeared from their site, but I assume it's similar to their other controllers. I'm using nestopia 1.49 with an 8Bitdo NES30 controller-the one that looks nearly identical to a vintage NES controller, but has four buttons (A/B/X/Y) and connects via bluetooth.
